Flow cytometry counts viable, injured and dead cells — including efficacious but non-culturable ones. That’s the short answer to why Seed reports AFU.

Where can I read the flow cytometry method in detail?
Good summary. CFU undercounts anything that won’t plate.
Worth noting: label claim is held through end of shelf life.
